There are some places in Ireland that are sacred to me. This is the valley around Lough na Fooey in Connemara. I could not tell you how many times I have come here for a day of hiking, escape, prayer, and reflection. I have so many happy memories here of picnics on the red sand beach and of seeking God's direction and help. It is harder to get here now that I live on the East coast... but I was able to spend a couple of hours here yesterday. I was excited to see it throu
The amazing "sally gap" road winds its way through the Wicklow mountains and it never disappoints. I had pretty much given up hope of getting any photos on this afternoon thanks to the mist and rain... Thankfully, however, this is Ireland. The clouds soon lifted and the sun gave me a beautiful rainbow. I'm just glad that we waiting long enough to see it! #storm #rain #rainbow #wicklow #sallygap #landscape #weather
These amazing passage tombs are estimated to be over 5000 years old which makes them older than the Egyptian pyramids. These prehistoric sacred sites are aligned in such a way so that the rays of the rising sun on the spring and autumnal equinoxes light up the tunnel leading to the heart of the mound. The site has a commanding view. Even with the rain and clouds last night I could still see the Wicklow/Dublin mountains (to the southeast), the Mournes (to the north east), a
Last night I took my wife out to eat at one of her favorite restaurants in Galway. As we walked back to the car we noticed several beautiful elements all moving towards each other. There was the ever photogenic landscape view from the Claddagh, swans swimming down the river Corrib, and a small hooker fishing boat quickly moving down the same river. I only had my phone but I ran out to the edge of the river and snapped a couple of quick photos. It was magic. #Galway #swan
One more aerial shot of the most famous passage tomb in Ireland - Newgrange. The massive mound sits on a small hill overlooking the Boyne river valley. The whole area is littered with prehistoric sites... but none can compare with Newgrange. The white stone front and enormous carved stones around it must have been an impressive sight 5,000 years ago! I know that it is today!! #history #livinghistory #drone #sunset #meath #landscape
- the Hill of Tara - A father and daughter stop to admire the tokens left by other visitors to this once sacred site. The fact there there were SO many new tokens tied to the tree would suggest that it is still a sacred site to many.... #history #livinghistory #tree #sunset #sun #sunflare #spring #landscape #candidportraits
This ancient seat of the high kings of Ireland was the perfect place for my first Irish flight of my drone! I think that I am going to like my new toy! #Air #history #ancient #landscape #green #sunset #fields #favorite
